How to Disable the Indexing Service

There are a number of exploits that hackers can use to exploit the Indexing Service to find server-side source code. In addition, there are a couple of known buffer-overflow attacks against the Indexing Service. If you are not using this service, it is recommended that you remove it.

To remove the Indexing Service from your Win2K server:

1.) Click on "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Control Panel".

2.) Double click on the "Add/Remove Programs" Icon.
